Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the thirty-second president of the United States of America. He was born in Hyde Park, New York on January 30, 1882. Roosevelt was elected twice as state Senator of New York in 1910 and 1912. While on vacation in New Brunswick in 1921, Franklin was paralyzed from the waist down. He regained partial use of his legs in 1924 by swimming. He was elected to his first presidential term in 1932. Franklin Delano Roosevelt's presidency is most remembered for his leadership during World War II. After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, he made the decision to bring America into the war on Britain's side. The official day they entered the war was June 6, 1944 in Normandy, France. This day has been known as D-Day ever since. This entry of American soldiers "turned the tables" on Nazi Germany and allowed the British and their allies to defeat Hitler's army. Roosevelt died of a hemorrhage in Warm Springs, Georgia on April 4, 1945. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was one of our greatest Presidents.
