President Benjamin Harrison

President Benjamin Harrison is the 23rd President of the United States. President Benjamin has accomplished many things in his lifetime. He was nominated on the 8th ballot at the 1888 republican Convention. Harrison conducted one of the 1st "front-porch" campaigns, where he delivered short speeches to delegations that visited him in Indianapolis. In 1880 he willingly served in the U.S. senate, but in the election against Cleaveland he had 100,000 fewer popular votes than Cleaveland. But unlike Cleaveland he had no political bargains, which meant his supporters gave innumerable pledges upon his behalf. And he was proud of the foreign policy which he helped edit and shape. Then in 1889 it was the 1st Pan American Congress ,held in Washington, where they made an information center, later became the Pan American Union. Lastly at the end of his term, he submitted a treaty to annex Hawaii, but President Cleaveland with drew it. As a result, his activism and willingness to wave a big stick in International Affairs which inspired many important people in the history of the American life.
