My President is Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan was the 40th president of the United States. He lived through World War II, but one of the most significant historical events during his later life time was the Cold War, which he was a key player in. Ronald Reagan lived through other time periods such as World War I and the great depression. His presidency is remembered for many things. For example, in 1969 he was shot, only 69 days after his inauguration. Also, Between 1981 and 1984, Reagan helped pass legislation to increase employment, the economy and national defense. He worked to decrease inflation and taxes as well. The most-well know event during President Reagan's term was in foreign-affairs, when he met with the Soviet Union's Mikhail Gorbackev to discuss nuclear war-fare. In addition, President Reagan sent troops into the Persian Gulf during the Iran-Iraq war. President Reagan is remembered for his ability to renew the nation, while still working towards world peace.
