President Franklin Pierce
By: Meghan Celentano
President Franklin Pierce was the fourteenth president of the United States. He was elected in 1853, but before he was elected the Mexican-American War was started in 1847. The war when still accruing when he became President. This was obviously a problem, so he fixed it. In 1850 the United States made a compromise. Because Pierce had southern views he hoped that the decisions he made would work to the countries advantage, but his rash choices only helped the union crumble faster.
