President Andrew Johnson
By : Christina Bohmfalk

President Andrew Johnson was the 17th president. In 1865 he had become president. Also in 1865 Johnson had proceeded to reconstruct the former confederate states while congress was in session. He had faced hostile faces because all the states had refused to ratify due to the 14 amendment. He was tried by the senate in the spring of 1868 and was acquainted by one vote. I believe that President Andrew Johnson was remembered because... He was a intelligent president who defeated democrats in his home state and he also contributed to his failures and kept the South a " white mans country ".
