Martin Van Buren, also known as “The little magician” or the eighth president, was well liked by President Jackson and had many accomplishments which lead to his becoming the president of the United States.  “Andrew Jackson appoints him [Buren] Secretary of State.”  His loyalty and faithfulness to President Jackson guides him to the path of success.  Van Buren is considered by President Jackson to be “his most trusted advisor.” The dependability of Buren is so immense that he is complimented by the Leader of the country.  Again, Buren receives praise from President Jackson by being referred to as “A true man with no guile.”  The reason Buren wins his election is President Jackson respects Buren, and the reason for Jackson’s respect is Buren’s honesty.  “The little magician” shows that size and intelligence do not have the only say in making a great leader but reliability and frankness also make a vast contribution to making a strong leader.
