General Zachary Taylor
Zachary Taylor, came to be known as “Old, rough and ready,” was an astounding soldier and President. General Taylor never voted for his own election. He won his election with a close number of 100,000 votes over Millard Fillmore and a bundle of faith. With no formal education under his belt, this man ran a nation. As twelfth president, he wanted the law to be well enforced and for the country to be in first-rate hands. He was the second president to die in office. He sadly collapsed and died of cholera after dinner on July ninth, 1850. The general, Zachary Taylor, was a remarkable president and combatant.
