Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president. And he was one of the greatest presidents. He was elected in 1861 that’s when he became are 16th president of the untied states. He served as a president for 1861 to 1865. Lincoln was elected to the Illinois House of Representatives in 1835. This shows that he is a great leader to the America n people. Lincoln famous speech “A house divided against it self cannot stand,’’ he said. “ I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free.” He was saying that they can’t endure people that are free and people that are slaves. He died on July 15, 1871. He was shot back in the head in a move theater. This person really did not like what Abraham Lincoln and what he did for the country. Abraham was a great leader to the United States or American.
