Richard M. Nixon

During Richard Nixon’s presidency, he was both a negative and a positive influence on American people.  On Nixon’s way to finding stability in the government of the United States, he reduced tension in China, created a treaty with Russia that restricted nuclear weapons, and he ended American fighting in Vietnam.  Nixon wanted to reduce any type of conflict and just wanted peace between all countries.  While Nixon was in office, his many accomplishments were new anticrime laws, the end of the draft, and a broad environmental program.  Nixon wanted all people in America to happy so he made general and a variety of changes for the people. After a few months in office, Nixon and his administration were embattled over the “Watergate” scandal which was when they broke into the offices of the Democratic National Committee during his 1972 campaign.  This was one of Nixon’s negative influences on his people because he was too competitive and reacted in a non-professional way.  In conclusion, Nixon did make a lot of positive changes that satisfied American people, but he didn’t always use his best judgement.
