Thomas Jefferson, a Democratic-Republican was the third president elected in 1800-1809.  He was born on April 13, 1743, in Goochland county, Virginia.  He married in January first, 1772, had six kids only two of them lived.  He loved his country and did many great things with his knowledge.  At age nine, the young president began his formal studies.  He was a good student, he excelled in, science, mathematics, rhetoric, philosophy and literature, had no formal affiliation in religion.  He graduated from William and Mary College.  After college, he studied law for five years and became a lawyer.  From 1784 to 1789, Jefferson lived outside the U.S.  He was sent to Paris initially as a commissioner to help negotiate commercial treaties.  Before he became a president he was elected in many things, for example, in 1779, Jefferson was elected governor of Virginia during the Revolutionary war, in witch he served for two years.  He was the first one to get to that position.  Also he was elected in many other things, for example, he was the Member of Virginia House of Burgesses, 1769-74, Member of Continental Congress, 177-76 and 1783-85, Minister of France, 1785-89, Secretary of State, 1790-93, and Vice president, 1797-1801.
