ĦRight!

In an exothermic reaction, heat is released. The word exothermic comes from the root -thermic meaning heat and the prefix -exo meaning out of. The energy that is released in an exothermic reaction was originally stored in the molecules of the reactants. When the energy is released, the molecules of the products do not receive energy. So the energy of the products is less than the energy of the reactants.
