My Best Friend Leonardo

by Chandler C.

Jeez!!! My neighbor sure is crazy. When I looked over at his house there was a big pile of rubbish in his front yard.  I bet he was trying to create another thing like he always is.  As soon as I went over to his house I noticed that his garage was open so I peeked inside.  I gasped really loud.  I went to the front door.  I have never met him before so I wanted to see what he looked like.  When he came to the door I told him my name was Chandler and then I asked him what his name was.  He said he was Leonardo da Vinci. I told him I looked in his garage and said I was sorry.  But then I told him his garage was amazing and I asked him if I could look at all his amazing pictures.  He said okay and took me to his garage.  He told me every little detail about all of his pictures.  The first one was a picture of a water lift.  He told me it takes water up to a higher place. I just stared.  The next was a picture of a helicopter.  It showed two people running on a spinner like disk and making a little copter spin.  I ran to the next picture.  It was a picture of a thread cutter. At first I thought it cut thread but Leonardo said it was a machine that cut metal.  I thought that was a weird name for a metal cutting machine.  The three pictures in the back were pictures of a machine gun, a tank and a catapult.  I asked him why they were so far back.  He told me he put them in the back because he hated war and the pictures showed objects of war.  I told him I probably hated war and fighting just as much he did.

When we went back to the kitchen I looked at the clock.  “Wow!  Look at the time,” I said. I have got to be getting home.  I had so much fun today I told him.  You are the best neighbor I ever had.  He said I was kind and thought I was the best neighbor he ever had.  I told him that one day he would be the greatest artist who ever lived.  He said I could come over and look in the attic at his other pictures.  I said I would be over at 3:30 PM tomorrow.    After that he was my best friend.
