Floodplain

A flood plain is an area of low-lying land across which a river
flows that's is covered with sediment as a result of frequent flooding. Flood
plain communities are normally wetlands. Floodplains provide numerous benefits
to society. The picture below is from the Sacramento Delta, California, it
is a block which as was flooded.
