Ozone

Patrick Q

Ozone is in the upper stratosphere. The stratosphere is in the sky and the second layer of the atmosphere. The first layer of the atomoshere is the troposhere, where we live. Ozone is a gas formed when three atoms of oxygen combine. It acts as a sheild in the earths atmosphere and absorbs ultraviolent radiation from the sun, you could say it acts as a sunblock to us it keeps us from being badly sunburned. If the radiation reached the earth it could do damage to the eye, marine life, and genetic damage.  Ozone has a clean sharp smell. you've probably smelled it after a thunderstorm.  In other words ozone is a lifesaver.
