The Ionosphere

Stephanie G.

The Ionosphere is the lower part of the thermosphere. It ranges from 80 kilometers-550 kilometers. The size is equal to the amount of ultraviolet rays.  Ions are in the Ionosphere as well. Ions are invisible electrical charged particles. Large disturbance on the sun's surface are solar flares. They cause the ions to increase. The increase of ions in the air interfere with radio waves. Nitrogen, oxygen, and oxides absorb ultraviolet rays in the ionosphere. The Ionosphere represents less than 0.1 percent of the total mass of the Earth's atmosphere.
