Contour Lines

Katie K.

Contour lines are lines that have the same elevation and pass all points on a map.  Contour lines of one elevation never intersect, each line represents one elevation.  They can never cross because one point can't have two different elevations.  V shaped contour lines mean that the contour lines are crossing a valley. If a stream flows through the valley then the V will flow upstream, it will always go the opposite direction of the stream. These lines form closed loops at the top of hilltops or also known as depressions.
