Chlorofluorocarbons

Justin C

Chlorofluorocarbons (or CFCs, for short) are gasses that used to be used in aerosol sprays, Styrofoam, and refrigerants.  The reason that CFCs aren't used anymore is because they destroy ozone molecules (100,000 ozone molecules for every CFC molecule).  They've been making holes in the ozone layer.  This is dangerous because more ultraviolet radiation can come to earth.  If this happened, it would be very easy to get seriously sunburned.
