Iceberg

this picture of an iceberg and was drawn by me in paint

Icebergs are large chunks of ice that have broken off of cliffs or icecaps.  Two percent of the earths fresh water comes from icebergs.  Some Icebergs are quite large.   Some might be the size of a car or the size of the state of Rhode Island!  Icebergs are dangerous to some ships.  The Coast guard and the Navy use planes and ships to look for icebergs and warn other ships.  Lots of ships have hit icebergs and sunk, for an example the Titanic.   Icebergs float and are homes to penguins, sea gulls seals, sea lions or sea otters.  Sometimes icebergs are so large that they might hit the bottom of the ocean.  Most icebergs come from in the north sea, antartica, Green land northern Euorope, Canada, Alaska, or  Ice land.  One-third of the iceberg is underwater.  Some icebergs are very old some of them could be at least a thousand years old if they stay up in cold areas!  A large iceberg can take at least year or more to melt!
