Characteristics: have a backbone and a tail

 

Class: Mammalia

Characteristics: feed newborn with milk, baby is not born in an egg, placental mammals

 

Order: Rodentia

Characteristics: have a single pair of incisors that are rootless, meaning they grow continuously

 

Family: Muridae

Characteristics: short legs and large eyes

 

Genius and Species: Peromyscus maniculatus

Characteristics: slightly less than 17cm, breeds every 10 to 17 weeks, common outdoor mouse
