Kingdom: Animalia
The white rhino is an animal. it is an animal because it is made of organized tissue.
Phylum: Chordata
The white rhino has bilateral symmetry, a segmented body, three germ layers, a single dorsal hollow nerve chord, ventral heart, digestive system, and a bony endoskeleton.
Class: Mammalia
It has three middle ear bones, hair and mammary glands.
Order: Perissodactyla
Perrisodactyla means "odd-toed". The rhinos middle toe is larger that the others.
Family: Rhinocertidae
It is a rhino. All rhinos stay in areas where they can make a daily trip to water.
Genus and species: Ceratherium simum
It is a grazing mammal. It has short legs. Its' head almost touches the ground. Rhinos spend most of there time in their home range.
Poem: The White Rhino
The white rhino is strong
but also gentle.
It keeps to itself
and loves it's young.
It is calm
but fierce.
It protects it's family
and is kind to all.
