Fun Facts on Black Panthers
There are only 50 to 60 of these big cats in the world left making it the most endangered mammal on earth
Habitat loss and hunting over the past century are responsible for population declines
The remaining panthers are threatened by genetic defects resulting by inbreeding and murcury poisoning.
Adultales can weigh up to 150 pounds and females weigh less than 100 pounds
A female is ready to beed within 2 1/2 years, but has to establish a territory first
When females give birth to kittens the males do not help raise them
Florids panther are ocasionally killed by cars and trucks, but mostly by hunters
Most panther now are having health problems due to the poor habitat conditions and the genetic effects
