Types of Texts Decoded
Hieroglyphics were found almost anywhere in Egypt. Hieroglyphics were found on tombs, art, sculptures, and architecture. They were also found on temples, pyramids, and wrappings of mummies. They represented ideas as well as sounds. The tomb writing tells about the individual, his accomplishments, and where and how he lived. The writing on the tomb was an attempt to justify and win a place in the after life. The writing lasted thousands of years. The Rosetta Stone unlocked the mystery of Hieroglyphics.
