Symbol Examples
Egyptians used hieroglyphics as their writing. They used many different symbols that meant many different things. For example, Ameba represents the underworld. Another symbol is Ankh which means internal life. Shenu is another that is commonly known as cartoache. It represents a loop of rope in which a name is written. Shenu is a protector of that name. Other symbols are Fail and Crook which are symbols of royalty, majesty, and dominion. Another is Djed which represents the human backbone, and symbolizes stability, strength, and also represents a decreased journey into the afterlife. The Pyramidal Hill is another sign that Egyptians believed was a creation of a hill which rose out of the sea of chaos to create dry land. There is also Feather of Maat which represents truth, justice, morality, and balance. Shen is another which symbolizes eternity because it has no beginning and no end. It is also a symbol of protection. It comes from the word '' Shenu ''which means encircle. Egyptians used hieroglyphics for many important events in their live. Hieroglyphics tell us many things about Egyptians culture.
