The Book of the Dead was used and made by ancient Egyptians. The book is filled with spells, magic formulas, hymns, and prayers. The book was placed in a tomb with a departed pharaoh because the book was believed to protect and aid the dead in their afterlife. Since this was believed, chapters of the book were copied and sold to average ancient Egyptian people so they could place chapters of the book with their relatives when they died. The text of the book was also believed to enable the soul to ward off demons attempting to throw off its progress, and to help the pass the tests set by the forty two judges in the hall of Osiris. The fragments of the book already found by scientists are fifty to a hundred feet long and very colorful. I think the Book of the Dead is interesting. What do you think about it?
