Fall of Kush

Kush was a kingdom that attained its greatest and cultural energy between 1700 and 1500 BC.  This was during the third intermediate period of Egypt.  When the new kingdom collapsed in 1000 BC, Kush again arose.

In AD 350, King Ezna, ruler of a neighborhood African Kingdom called Axum, invaded and conquered Meroe.  Meroe was forgotten for many centuries after his brutal conquest.
