Kush attained its most power between 1700 to 1500 BC. Kush was a part of Egypt until the end of the New Kingdom. The Pharaoh of the New Kingdom was dead and their new Pharaoh did not have any military skills. Priests were arguing with the Pharaoh to be in control of the government. With all these problems, including the Pharaoh trying to keep his power, Egypt was weakening. Because of this the Pharaoh could not make the rulers of Kush obey him.
The ruler of Kush (Kashta) started to realize that Egypt was weak, so he wanted to overcome Egypt. In 750 BC, Kashta finally conquered Upper Egypt and its capitol Thebes.
Then Kashta's son Piankhy defeated a princess who controlled Upper Egypt. After time, Piankhy put up a tablet made of granite, which depicted the attack of Memphis (a city in Ancient Egypt).
