The Middle Kingdoms

The Middle Kingdom occurred during the twelfth and thirteenth dynasty. It was known for art and literature. In the twelfth century, society changed. People became more conscious of their individual rights.  So the royal policy had to temper it.  Also, Religion was affected.  Funeral beliefs that were once restricted to the kings now spread out through all classes.  Also they developed a new tomb at Thebes that  was a cubical version of the pyramid mound.
