Public Projects

Queen Hatshepsut built obelisks (obelisk: four-sided buildings with a pyramid or conical top) that were decorated with hierolglyphs that told about Egyptian pharohs and Ancient Egyptian history. The pyramidion (the top of an obelisk which slopes to a point) were usually made of gold or brass. Queen Hatsehpsut built an obelisk that is 97 feet tall and was built from Aswan granite. This obelisk is built in the temple of Amon Ra. Stonecutters proclaimed the devotion of Hatshepsut to the sun god and asserted her right to rule. Queen Hatshepsut also sent ships to Punt to get myrrh, monkeys, ivory, gold and other exotic things from Punt. Hatshepsut thinks trading is more important than conquering. Under her rule, people lived in a peaceful life. Queen Hatshepsut also sent people to the desert to mine for ores and restored temples during earlier invasions. Queen Hatshepsut was responsible for a lot of public projects.
