Jewelry

Jewelry in ancient Egypt was very valuable. A lot of the of the Egyptians wore jewelry.

Men and women both wore necklaces and collars, stings of beads, bracelets, anklets, earrings, and finger rings. Most of the jewelry was silver because back then silver was more precious and more valuable than gold. The Queens often wore silver and ivory bracelets with butterflies of turquoise and beads in red, white, and aquamarine. For festive occasions, rich women wore nets around the neck of red, blue, or green, with beads across the middle.

Aristocrats of the Old Kingdom wore necklaces, breast pendants of wood and metal, and sometimes an official badge of office. Women of the lower class held their skirts up with a string of beads with a ribbon.
