Joseph
Chapters 42-45 and 47

Joseph's brothers went to Egypt to procure food for Canaan.  Joseph talks and acts cruelly with his brothers.  Joseph's actions test his brothers' sincerity, and drive them to search their consciences for a reason why God would place them in such a cautious relationship with the ruler of Egypt.

There was a final test, it puts Benjamin in danger of becoming Joseph's slave.  It reveals the change that took place in the brothers.  Judah was cleansed of his sin to try to kill Joseph, now he thinks more of his father's grief than his own consequences.

The brothers were stunned when Joseph revealed himself to his brothers.  Joseph explains that God exalted him to power in Egypt in order to preserve all their lives.  The brothers return home and tell Jacob, who is glad that he will see Joseph, his favorite son again.

Later, Jacob meets Pharaoh, and the family gets land and employment in Egypt's richest district.  Joseph administers Egypt.  Jacob dies in Egypt , but asks to be buried in Canaan with his father and grandfather.  Just before his death, Jacob blesses and adopts Joseph's two sons and his own.
