Difficulties with
logging into the secure area of this website can be due to invalid User
ID/Passwords, or due to security issues between your Internet Service
Provider and our web server. Please note that as of September, 2005, you
may need to enter your User Name in a different format than entered in
previous years. In the interest of your time, please review the new
Required User Name Format is being typed before reporting the
difficulty. We are of course happy to reset or change passwords at any
time, for any reason.

Resetting and
Changing Passwords:
Passwords can be
reset or changed on written request to
webmaster@serraschool.org . Passwords must be between three and 15
characters (letters or numbers) in length, and are case-sensitive. If
your password change request includes the use of UPPER-CASE letters the
password will be set accordingly, and you must use UPPER-CASE letters.
Please be sure to
include your User Name (in most cases the last name of the family), the
password you want reset if you know it (or what you want the password
changed to), and your name. Confirmation that the password was changed
will be made via e-mail or phone.
Special Procedures
for AOL Users
If you use AOL to
connect to the Internet, you must follow a different procedure to login
to SerraConnect. These requirements are necessitated by AOL and are
beyond our control:
1. Open AOL as
usual and logon to AOL
2. When you have
succeeded with the logon, you can either leave this logon window open or
minimize it:
do not close this window!
3. Open a SECOND
Internet browser window (using Internet Explorer or Netscape). One way
to open a second browser window is to click on <Start> and click on a
Netscape or IE icon (If an icon isn't listed then click on <Programs>
and select Internet Explorer or Netscape)
4. In the SECOND
window type in www.serraschool.org You MUST use a second window
(other than the original minimized AOL window). Leave the AOL login
window open (either displayed or minimized).
Type in your User
Name in accordance with the required User Name format based on the
operating system of your computer (information follows below).
Required User Name
Format with computers employing Windows XP and Windows 2000:
In the User Name box,
type your user name followed by @serraschool.org
For example, if your user name is jones, type in jones@serraschool.org
Note: this is
not an e-mail address, only a format for entering the User Name. No
e-mail is associated with student or family user names.
Windows 98, Windows
95 and Mac Computers:
The window that opens
where you input your login information may contain two or three boxes
for information.

For windows
opening with two boxes (User Name and Password): In the User Name
box type
serra\User
Name
For example, if your user name is jones, type in serra\jones

For windows
opening with three boxes (User Name, Password and Domain):
In the User Name box type only your User Name (i.e., jones)
In the
Password box type your password (Note: Passwords are
case-sensitive!)

About SerraConnect, the Password-Protected Web Page Area
Among the many great
support features of
Serra Catholic
School
is information contained on password-protected web pages. The
password-protected pages, scattered throughout "Parents", "Students" and
"Alumni" menu bar listings, collectively reside in an area known as
SerraConnect.
Access to
SerraConnect pages is controlled through the use of User Names and
Passwords (taken together constitute a “login”). User Names are not
case-sensitive; you may use any combination of lower- or upper-case
letters. (In the examples below the User Name will be displayed in
lower-case letters.) Passwords however are case-sensitive, which
is why numbers are used for passwords when setting up a login for a
family new to Serra
Catholic
School.
Why are pages
password-protected? Usually these pages contain information about
students (by name or class), families (phone numbers that appear in an
archived edition of The SerraDipity), or contain information that
is intended only for our students and families (such as campus maps and
staff phone extensions). Logins are provided to Middle School students
and to families with at least one child currently enrolled at Serra
Catholic School, regardless
of the grade-level of the child/children. Logins are disabled any time a
Middle School student withdraws from school and when a family no longer
has a child enrolled at Serra
Catholic
School.
Due to security
upgrades in Microsoft software, a new format is required when entering a
User Name; the format required is dependent upon the operating system in
use.
As security attacks
become more sophisticated it's not unreasonable to expect that upgrade
or other software responses may also complicate access to not only our
secure site but others as well. We will continue to do our best to
maintain your access to the secure areas in a never-ending effort to
keep up with industry changes. Your patience is greatly appreciated, and
we hope rewarded through the vastly expanded website.
