1 Corinthians Chapter 13

Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, (love) is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

I started my Serra career in kindergarten.  My teacher was Miss Smith. The people that helped me feel welcome were Emily M. and Brook F.  My best friend was my sister Mallory. My teacher made learning fun.  She had a cardboard dog, that she called Buddy Beagle, where she kept toys and treats for the drawings on Fridays.  What I remember most is the time I got in trouble for yelling out "Tellers", when we were trying to think of words that started with "T".

The next year I was in First grade, and my teacher was Mrs. Miske.  She was a great teacher and I will never forget the funny and scary times of that year.  A time that I really remember that year was when Mrs. Miske got a phone call, and she started to cry.  I thought that she was crying because something bad had just happened, so I brought her a box of tissue.  When she was done blowing her nose, she told us that the tears were of happiness, and not of sadness.  Her son had just made it into the college that he was hoping to get into, which was Notre Dame.  Another fun thing that we did that year was having a big Serra bear that we got to take turns and keep it at our house for a week. We kept a journal about everything we did with the Serra Bear. Also that year, we did Flat Stanley, and sent them to people.  First grade was a great year.

The next year I was one of the big kids.  I was in Second grade.  My teacher was Mrs. Balsis, and we did a lot of fun activities.  The girl that sat next to me was Jane T.  I remember the day that she brought in her pet tadpole, and I could not stop looking at it.  I also remember my science teacher, which was Mrs. Blaine. We always watched the Magic School Bus videos with her, and we did a dinosaur project.  The dinosaur that I made out of clay, was a Tyrannosaurus-Rex. Also, that was the year that I made my first Holy Communion. I was really excited when the day came, and I could not wait to receive the Eucharist. Second grade was a lot of fun, and I loved my teacher.

In my third grade year, I had Mrs. Diemer.  She was a piano player, and often played at our school Masses.  The movie that we always watched was "Frog and Toad". Whenever we watched this movie, the whole class began to sing one of the songs in the movie.  My best friends were Emily M., and my sister Mallory. We had all kinds of parties, including Hawaiian day.  That was the day that we all got to dress up in Hawaiian clothes and drink tropical beverages. For art that year, my teacher was Mrs.  Landry; she loved dogs.  That year in art, we did a lot of pictures with pastels, and learned about different artists.

Fourth Grade was a great year. My teacher was Mrs. Povey, and I really liked her. She really liked the Loony Toons, and every one in her class had cards with their name and a Loony Toon character on it. One of the field trips that we went on in fourth grade, was the Pilgrim. We went on a ship in the harbor, and spent the night there acting like we were real sailors. My group was the Boatswains, and we got to clean the mast, and raise the flag every day. One of the things that I remember the most from this field trip, was when the captain dumped a bucket of ice cold water on my head, mistakenly. For breakfast, we had oatmeal and a glass of milk. For dinner, we had beef stew, and a glass of water. At night, we had a watch and we wrote in a journal, about what we experienced during the watch. My watch was from 6:00 am to 8:00 am. That trip was a lot of fun. Another field trip that we went on, was to Heritage Hill. On this field trip, we pretended that we were a person that went to a tiny school, years ago. I was Jenny Farrant, and my dad was an apricot grower. At recess, we played Hoop and Barrel, which was a game that the kids at the school played when they belonged there. We also did a Mission Project later that year. We also did a Pioneer Web Project, and my Pioneer was John Muir. Fourth Grade was a blast.

In Fifth Grade, my teacher was Miss. Lipka. This was the first year that I was able to participate in after-school sports. for the first season, I played volleyball, and for the next season, I played basketball. I had two great coaches, and two great teams. I did not have many of my friends my class that year, but I tried to make the best of it. We did  a lot of fun things, including our state reports, and walk through America Night. My state was Oregon, and the food that I made was Coffee Cake. Also that year, we did Presidential Elections for Bush and Gore. We also voted on our favorite foods and candy. That year, Mrs. Peterson and her class acted out the Stations of the Cross. My class had to sing songs during the play, when all the parents and little kids came to watch it. Also that year, we did a Hero Project, were we wrote about someone that we admired and that was our Hero. My Hero, was my Grandma that passed away from cancer, but lived a longer time than the doctors thought she would. I was very close to my grandma, and I have a lot of jewelry that she gave me before she died. One of the field trips that we went on that year, was to the Water District. I was pretty grossed out by the smell, but overall, the fieldtrip was pretty interesting. Also that year, we went to the Aquarium of the Pacific, to observe the wildlife and animals there. I loved that fieldtrip, because I loved looking at all the different animals. I was extremely sad to leave, when our time at the Aquarium was over. Sixth grade was a fantastic year.

In Sixth grade, my teacher was Mrs. Tilton. She taught us all about God, and how we could become closer to Him. In Language Arts, we read The Egypt Game and Tuck Everlasting. Both books were good, but I liked The Egypt Game better. Our main field trip that year, was to Science Camp. It was a lot of fun, and I learned many things about nature, and about the universe. I had a really good cabin  with many of my friends, and I had a really nice counselor. Her name was Cynthia. We also had a dance there, but it was more like a Ho Down. We stayed there for four days, and were sad to leave. In technology, we did a Natural Wonders Project. My Natural wonder was Iguacu Falls. Also that year, I was apart of the volleyball and basketball teams. Both of my teams did very well, and I got a trophy on awards night. Sixth Grade was a lot of fun, and I learned multiple things.

In Seventh Grade, my teacher was Mrs. Matsukane. She was a great teacher, and she taught me many things that I did not know. In Literature, we read The Bronze Bow and The Hobbit. Also we read Rikki Tikki Tavi, and The Highwayman. All the books were very good. In Social Studies, we learned about Japan and the Medieval Times. For a field trip, we went to Medieval Times and watched the horses and their riders perform. Also there, we got a meal that consisted of chicken, a potato, a cookie, and an orange soda. It was a lot of fun. Also this year, we had two dances. One was a Spring dance, and the other was an eighth grade dance that we planned and hosted. The Spring dance that we had, was my first dance that I had ever attended. I had a really good time and could not wait for the next one. The next dance that we had was the Eighth Grade dance. The theme that we chose was Hawaiian, and the dance was a lot of fun. We served Hawaiian foods,  tropical drinks, and delicious desserts. Eighth Grade was  a year full of lots of surprises and parties.

Eighth Grade so far has been a blast. My homeroom teacher is Mrs. Budhabhatti. To start off the year, we went to Pali Mountain Institute Leadership Camp, in Arrowhead. We stayed there for a week, and learned to be better leaders for our school and community. We did many activities there, including Gilligan's Island, Aero Dynamics, Peer pressure class, Goal Setting, and my favorite, which was the Ropes Course. The food there was really good, and I had an awesome cabin. Almost all of my friends were in my cabin, and we had a nice counselor. Also there, we had a dance that was a lot of fun. Everything about camp was a ton of fun, and I wish that I could go again. Right now in most of our subjects, we are preparing for our High School Entrance Exam Tests, that we will take in January. We have also gotten presentations from Mater Dei, and Santa Margarita High School.

This year I am in the 8th grade.  I am looking forward to my dances, classes, and the day of the graduation.

Three things I do well are:

1. Tennis, because I have been playing for about four years now, and I have gotten quite good.

2. Drawing, because I like to be creative and imaginative on projects.
