Romans 12:14-21
14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.
17Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. 18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay, "says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
   "If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

 My Description of Verses

Kindergarten

I started my Serra career in the Kindergarten.  My teacher was Miss Smith.   The people that helped me feel welcome to Serra were my best friends Sara G. (who stayed my best friend until 6th grade) and Clarissa and my many other friends such as Megan  and Shane.  I remember getting all dressed up as a princess for Halloween that year and sharing with the kindergarten class what I was supposed to be.  At the end of the year, I remember that we made our "special" animals and show them off to all of our parents at graduation.  I also remember at graduation that we all came up to the microphone and said what we wanted to be when we grew up.  I was very reluctant to come up to the microphone and speak since that was the first time I had been in front of a crowd but that day was when I found out how fun public speaking could be.

First Grade

In First grade, my teacher's name was Miss McKeehan.  In her class I became friends with many more people.  I remember she used to read to us in our "reading corner" and I remember I used to love it when she read.  I also remember on our birthdays that we had to go and sit in the corner while everyone in the class designed and decorated a piece of paper filled with compliments and birthday wishes.  That year we also got to do a "Flat Stanley."  We would send a piece of paper to a relative and have them decorate and create a story so when they came back we could share with the class about the trip our flat Stanley took.

Second Grade

In Second and Third grade, Mrs. Balsis was my teacher. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had, she was always lots of fun and we used to play games such as "Around the World" and "Silent Ball", those games taught me how to multiply and be aware of what is going on around me. More specifically, in 2nd grade, I made my first communion and first reconciliation.  Everyone said my dress looked like a wedding dress.  That year turned out  to be one of my most spiritual years at Serra when I first understood the Lord.

Third Grade

In 3rd grade my best friend, Sarah G., moved away to Minnesota.  That year was a very hard time for me since Sarah G. had been my best friend.  But that year I made many new friends.  And also that year, I won my first ribbons in swimming.  I remember I told Mrs. Balsis about them and she was very happy for me.  I also remember we had a huge Hawaiian party and got to watch movies all day.  It was lots of fun.  Most of all, I remember making new friends from Santa Ana when we had buddies, and my buddy's name was Michael.

Fourth Grade

In 4th grade I had Mrs. Finn, she used to read "The Plants that Ate Dirty Socks" and we always used to color abstract shapes and lines.  That year I also had Mrs. Povey, who was an excellent Social Studies teacher.  That year we got to do the Mission Projects.  I remember I had Mission San Diego.  It was a lot of fun and very educational.  That year in technology, we did Pioneer projects, I did William Campbell, a famous pony express rider. That year we also did the Solar System projects and I was the first one to turn mine in.  That year I also did my first Science project about density and weight, it was really COOL. We also went to Heritage Hill where we got to dress up as someone from the 1700's and we learned what being alive then was like, it really made me appreciate that my teachers aren't like the teachers back then.  And one of the most memorable times in 4th grade was the Pilgrim.  Erik C. was our first mate and Brooke F., Tyler S., and others were in my group too. We had stand watch from 2-4 a.m. It was so much fun and we will never forget it.

Fifth Grade

In 5th grade, Mrs. Peterson was my teacher, she really helped me excel in math and find that math was fun.  That year we got to make solar ovens and my partner was Dayeanne H.  That year was the year that everyone voted for the new President of the United States, we got to vote too. Also in technology, we did a Hero project, my hero was my swimming coach Paul. That year Miss Lipka and Miss Peal were my teachers too.  Miss Lipka was my science teacher and Miss peal was my Language arts teacher.  Miss Peal was in charge of the yearbook and I helped her by taking pictures and cropping pictures to put in there.  Miss Lipka made science fun and she always used to tell us about her boyfriends.  She was lots of fun.  Around Easter time, the 5th grade performed the Stations of the Cross in front of the whole school.

Sixth Grade

Right before 6th grade, my friend Sarah G. moved back.  My teacher in 6th grade was Ms. Passero, we used to have current events in her class.  I used to dislike current events very much.  That year we went to Science camp for a week.  We got to go on hikes and make friends with the other school.  That year, Sarah and I joined the cheer team along with a few other girls. That year I also remember being scared about the first day of school and all the new people such as Tommy C. and John E.  In technology, we did a Natural Wonders of the World project.  My partners were Sarah, Andrew and Mandy, we had Angel Falls, a huge waterfall in South America.  At the end of that year, I ran for treasurer and lost to Tommy M.  That year we also said good-bye to Mrs. Tellers and we had our ground breaking ceremony.  That summer, Bretton Friestedt, one of our school piers,  and Mrs. Benjamin, one of our retired teachers, passed away that year. We all miss them and we will never forget them.

Seventh Grade

In 7th grade, my teacher was Mrs. Matsukane.  She always used to tell us that she could not yell over us and eventually she started using a  microphone.  She really pushed me to become better then I already was in school. That year we had Mrs. Marsh as a science teacher and half way through the year, she left and Mrs. Muzzy took over.  I think it was a change for the better. In technology, we did animal projects, my animal was a Grey Kangaroo.  That year I also was in the Bye Bye Birdie play as Alice.  I made many new friends and all of my friends in 7th grade became really close to the 8th grade.  Last year was also the first year we had dances.  We had one in May and another one in June for the graduation, but the first one was better because it was a time of fun where as the second one was a time of sadness because all of our friends were leaving.  The first dance was also fun because afterwards we went to get ice cream with all our friends.  The last week of school, I ran for student council President and lost again to Andrius S.  I had so much fun last year.

Eighth Grade

This year I am in 8th grade and I will be graduating after 9 long years. We came back from Leadership Camp last Friday after one long week at camp up near Lake Arrowhead. It was a lot of fun and I personally learned a lot about being a leader.   I intend to make this year my best year ever at Serra Catholic School.

My teachers made learning fun.  They were all kind and sweet and they used to always make each of us feel special in our own way.  They were never boring and they always inspired me to be the best I could be and to really put myself out there and excel in all my studies. I am really thankful to my teachers for all they have done to shape my life and my .

What I remember most in all these years here was making all my friends.  These friends Include Emily M.,  Jane T., , Jonathan F., John E., Andrius S., Christina M., Erik C. and Erik B., Patrick Q., Miles M. and many, many others.

This year I am in the 8th grade.  I am looking forward to improve in all my subjects and to become better acquainted with all my school mates so we can continue to be friends in high school.

This year I have learned that you need more then just brains to pass, you must also have a lot of integrity and you must put in a lot of effort.  This year has been so incredibly helpful to me and I am so blessed in order to be able to attend this school.
