John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that
he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish
but have eternal life. " (explanation) |
I started my
Serra career in the year
of 1995 -1996 when our school opened. I was in Kindergarten that year and
my teacher was Mrs. Reiss.
My first friends at Serra were Mallory W, Breanna G, Emily M, Megan W,
Mandy N, Katie K, and Emily K. Mrs. Reiss made learning fun by doing lots
of arts and crafts. We made Christmas plates for our parents and also
made our own cook books. We also went on a field trip to a pumpkin patch
on Halloween. By the end of my Kindergarten year I felt Serra had became
my home.
I was really excited to start my 1st grade year with Mrs. Miske.
On the first day of school I was overjoyed to see that Kaelie S, my best friend
from Preschool, had joined our Serra family. During first grade we did many
exciting things. For example, we read flat Stanley and got to send him to
someone close to us so he could stay with them for a week. I chose to send
him to my aunt and during his stay there he got stuck in the copy machine.
She had her whole class decorate the copies and made me a book with all of them
in it. In first grade I also participated in the two school plays which
were "The Wizard of Oz" and "Fantastic Kids".
Second grade was the year of change.
We had our first communion and reconciliation and started science. With
Mrs. Blain as my teacher we dissected owl pellets and did many other
experiments. We learned about dinosaurs and did our own country project.
I chose Switzerland as my country and brought in food and my relatives items to
show the class. This was very fun, but our class’s favorite thing was getting
prizes from the mail box for being good students.
My third grade year was with Mrs. Dimer. In third grade
my friends were Kaelie S, Mandy N, Katie K, Channing C, Amanda B, and Maura M.
In third grade we had buddies from a school in Santa Ana. At Christmas we
sent them gifts and made cards. On St. Patrick's Day I dislocated my
finger and broke it at the socket and had to wear a cast for about one month.
I participated in the school play that year which was "Joseph and the Technicolor
dream coat". In Computer lab we did projects on the living desert and I had
to do mine on the
Cholla. To celebrate mardi gras, we had a parade around school and got
to wear our masks that we made and decorated.
My fourth grade year was with Mrs. Povey. My favorite
part of fourth grade was going on the Pilgrim. I also enjoyed Mrs.
Povey’s jokes and Marvin the Martian slippers she let us wear in class.
During this year we learned long multiplication and division. We also did
projects on the solar system and the California missions. My mission was
Mission Santa Barbara and for my project I made a power point presentation.
In computer lab we made projects on a pioneer and my pioneer was
Juana Briones de Mirande.
Fifth grade was a year of transition from elementary to
middle school. To help me on this transition was Mrs. Peale. During
my fifth grade year we went on many field trips, one of which was to the Long
Beach aquarium. In science we made solar ovens and got to cook things in it
at lunch. In computer lab we
voted on our favorite food and who we wanted to become president.
Although all of this was very fun the best part of fifth
grade was the state projects. I was assigned South Carolina and got to
make the governor’s favorite food, Cowboy cookies, for the Taste of America
night. We also got to participate in the Walk through the American
Revolution and the stations of the cross. During fifth grade I also
participated in school sports. I played volleyball and soccer and both
teams won the league title.
Sixth grade was our first year in
middle school. My sixth grade teacher was Mrs. Tilton. My favorite
thing about sixth grade was going to science camp. At
science camp we sang
songs and did skits. I feel that science camp was a great bonding
experience for our grade. In the computer lab we made Natural Wonders
Project and I had
Krakatau Island. During sixth grade we learned about ancient Egypt.
We also read The Egypt Game and Tuck Everlasting. We also
did many projects like the poetry project and the Egyptian menu.
My seventh grade year was with Mrs.
Matsukane. My favorite part about seventh grade was going to the
dances. We got to plan and decorate the graduation dance. We chose
the theme for this dance as Luau and it was really fun. During seventh
grade we learned about China and Japan. We also got to go to Medieval
times on a field trip. In technology lab we did projects on the
animal kingdom and
photosynthesis. During seventh grade I participated in the
Serra academic Decathlon. We won the Diocese
competition and then went on to get first in state.
Eight grade was our year of graduation.
Our teachers were Mrs. Muzzy, Mrs. Tilton, Mrs. Palmiotto and Mrs. Budhabhatti.
We started out eight grade year by going to
leadership camp (
Pictures of Camp). My favorite
activity at camp was the high ropes were I got to go on ropes and jumps that
were up to sixty feet high in the air. I really liked camp because I got
to be with my friends for a whole week and because I feel like it was a good
bonding experience. This year I participated in the school
Volleyball team. We did not win every game but I feel we did very good.
Graduation
Over
the nine years here at Serra, I have had many good times and many bad,
many tears and many laughs. Although I have been through all of this I
feel that I don't really remember any one of these times as much as I remember
the friends I had made along the way. I feel the friends I have made here
at Serra are lifelong friends that will always be there for me.
Friends page
Three things I do well are:
1. Math: Math is my favorite subject and my best subject. It comes easy to me and makes sense to me.
2. Playing Sports: I am athletic and I try one hundred and ten percent at everything I do. I play club volleyball and participate in after school sports. I also enjoy playing sports so I practice everyday.
3. Helping others. I like to help around the house and help others by teaching them something or just being nice when they are sad.
Three things I would like to improve about myself are:
1. Be more patient with people: I think I need to be more patient with my sisters, parents and friends. Sometimes I get a little to mad when things aren't how I want them.
2. Read more: I think I need to read more because I never read and reading will help me with vocabulary.
3. Volleyball: I want to improve in volleyball because I want to make the jv team freshman year. I also believe that you can always improve in everything.
Three things I enjoy doing are:
1. Playing Volleyball: I enjoy playing volleyball
because I am good at it and because it is fun. I also like playing because
i meet many new people. I enjoy being with my friends on my team and
hanging out with them at practice and tournaments. I play
club volleyball and plan to play in high
school. (Pictures of My Club Volleyball
Teams)
2. Skiing and Snowboarding: I enjoy skiing and snowboarding because it is something you can only do during the winter. I also enjoy this because I go every year with my family and it is a time to spend away from home with my family. The last reason I like skiing and snowboarding is because my family does this in Snowmass, Colorado and that is my favorite place to be.

3. Cooking: I enjoy cooking because it is a time I can be by myself. I also enjoy cooking because I like to make things that bring people together as a family. It makes me happy when I make things that people enjoy.
A goal I have for this year is: To keep up my good
grade
I will achieve this goal by:
1. Listening in class when the teacher is talking
2. Studying before every test
3. Doing all my homework and projects and turning them in on time
Three careers that I am interested in are:

1. Children Pediatrician: I have always wanted to be a doctor and I love to help little kids.
2. Pastry Chef: I have always loved to cook desserts and I like to make up new ideas. I enjoy making things that people like and I like seeing happy faces.
3. Mother: I look up to my mother and want to be like her. I want to have kids that look up to me like I look up to her
Three school subjects related to my career interests and
why are:
1. Biology because to become a doctor you have to know a lot about the human body and how it works.
2. Math because if I was a chef I would need to know measurements and how to convert them.
3. Religion because if I want to fulfill any of the three job I have to have God with me. I think religion is also important because if I become a mother I want to teach my children a lot about God.
Future Schools:
High school: I am going to go to Santa Margarita Catholic High School
College: I want to go to the University of Notre Dame then go to Culinary College in Europe.
