Changed for Better of for Worse
I have had a few dramatic changes in my life, have you? During the novel, Johnny Tremain, due to the lack of employment during the Revolutionary War Johnny faces the difficult obstacle of finding a new job resulting in personality change from a domineering boy to a caring and respectful young man. In Johnny's younger years, he shows a bossy quality.
Although, Johnny Tremain is the smallest boy in his residence, and almost the boss over his whole house. "Although two years younger than swinish Dove, inches shorter, and pounds lighter, he knew, and old Mr. Lapham knew, that Johnny Tremain was the boss of the attic, and almost the boss of the whole house." (p.2) Johnny, the smallest boy in the house, has an attitude which plays a huge part in the Lapham household. Johnny can easily hurt Dove or Dusty, but they do not do anything, they are frightened by him. Johnny is the youngest boy in his home, but in Johnny's house size doesn't matter, attitude matters.
Johnny Tremain becomes a man through obtaining an occupation and realizing that his country is the most important to him. Johnny finds a job in the army, and in conversation he is confronted by a woman," 'How old are you, Johnny?' she asked. 'Sixteen.' 'And what is that, a boy or a man?' He laughed. 'A boy in peace time and a man in time of war.' " (p.p.236-237) Johnny has the ability to be a man when the situation calls for it. Johnny has grown mentally, through caring and helping others. Johnny grows up quickly, and he needs to be a man for his country and for his job.
Johnny goes through a lot of changes in his life, but particularly he transforms for his country. His personality differs as well as his mentality. Johnny's job also has a lot to do with what he goes through, which is constantly happening. His
