“The Observers Importance”

During the Revolutionary War, many people and places acted as an importance for the Americans victory, such as Sam Adams, John Handcock, Yorktown, and the Boston Observer. In Johnny Treamain the Boston Observer acts not only as a place for the Sons of Liberty to meet, but aided the colonist’s success of the Revolutionary War. It helps them win the war in many ways, such as a hiding place and a place to plan things out.

The Boston Observer takes the role as a secret hiding place, beneficial to the Sons of Liberty. “It was here in the attic, ever and anon, ‘the Boston Observers’ met. It was a secret club as powerful as any in Boston, and here in the last few years had been hatched much ‘treason’ as the Tories called it.”(p.95) Johnny feels proud to know that the Sons of Liberty meet here and plan for the Revolutionary War. The Boston Observer acts a very significant place in Boston. The Boston Observer brings hope for the colonists.

The people there want the best in what they do. “If Mr. Adams says ‘Now may God help my country,’ comeback. Then we will take off our disguises and each go home and say nothing. But if he says ‘This meeting can do nothing more to save the country,’ you are get out of that crowd as fats as you can, as soon as you are to get Cornhill begin to blow up this silver whistle.”(p.123) The Boston Observer, a highly secret location, allows the Sons of Liberty to discuss the confidential matter of the Boston Tea Party Revolt. The colonists rely on the Boston Observer for support and taking care of things by organizing the Boston Tea Party and also helping with the Revolutionary War. The Boston Observer stands as a place where they do not have the choice to fail and if they do their country fails too.

The Boston Observer makes sacrifices to get where this country stands now. It takes courage to stand up for what one believes in. It aids and supports the colonists and the colonists do the same for them.
