“Johnny’s accident”

Did you ever think your whole life could change in less then two minutes? In Johnny Tremain, Johnny’s fatal flaw of burning his hand results in him seeing the world from a compassionate perspective. Johnny goes through many challenges on his way to become a man. He suffers while his life changes completely.

All of Johnny’s things in life start to leave him and he feels like no one is on his side. Johnny was so upset he…”lay face down sobbing and saying and over that God has turned away from him.”(p.63) When Johnny has no control he turns to God and shows mercy. Johnny becomes more emotional when he burns his hand, feeling helpless and alone. Johnny’s emotion makes shim more depressed and sad.

Johnny begins to think about others and forgets about his injury. Johnny was so excited he forgot about all his problems…”His pockets were filled with fine gifts…he was so happy about the gifts he forgot about his hand…Cilla and Issannah huddled in a corner frightened.” (p.61) Johnny starts thinking of others and forgetting about his hand. He becomes upset after Cilla and Issannah show their fear of him which brought his bride and confidence down. Johnny realizes the emotional effect of his hand and everything he is limited to do.

Johnny. A selfish inconsiderate young man with too much bride, after his accident he begins to realize the world and people around him, in the end Johnny is a caring, loving man. His whole life went different in the two minute accident with his hand.
