All About Me

My Coat of Arms

2003 - 2004 School Year

Religion

Vatican II

>This is really the only religion work we have done in Technology this year.

>It's a PowerPoint presentation of Vatican II, and I learned a lot about the church before changes were made.

>PowerPoint is usually very easy, but because i spent a lot of time gathering information before being absent for one class, i didnt have as much time as i would have liked to polish this presentation.

Language Arts

Johnny Tremain

We wrote essays using the Jane Schaffer method after we read the novel Johnny Tremain.  I don't really like the Jane Schaffer format because it is very structured and I like to do what I feel like doing.  However,  this method does help with thought organization.

Math

Exploring Matter

>I chose this piece of work because I feel it demonstrates  my abilities in Excel as well as using algebraic formulas.

>From this assignment I learned about using a tool in  Excel that uses formulas so that the computer does the work for you called AutoFill.

>I found it interesting to see the differences in weight on different planets.

Checkbook Project

>This was a 'quiz' on  Excel & how well we knew how to use the AutoFill and Formula tools.

>It is a fictional checking account in which we had to insert a list of deposits and debits to maintain the balance.

>It may have taught those who either don't have or don't maintain their own checkbooks.

Science

Boyle's & Charles' Laws

>We did a project in Excel using data from Boyle's & Charles' Laws.

>Boyle's law states that the volume and pressure of a gas react inversely.

>Charles' law states that Temperature reacts directly with volume of gasses.

Chemical Element Project

>This is a slideshow we did in PowerPoint about a chemical element- my element was cadmium

>We studied our assigned elements and did an oral presentation after completing the slideshows

>Random Fact: Cadmium is among the lowest melting alloys.

Social Studies

Civil War Timeline

>In this project, we had to make a timeline of events that lead up to and occurred during the Civil War.

>There are five events plotted from before, and ten plotted during.

>The Civil War lasted from 1861- 1865
