“Precocious Products”

Do people need to use new, up to date resources to get through and live in their daily lives? The determined English colonists in Johnny Tremain need advanced resources that are found in the 21^st century to improve their warfare weaponry and communication. Through progression, resources improve to better help in times of need.

The soldier’s armaments, in use during the Revolutionary War, advance in the 21^st century. During the war, “The soldier had to bite the end of his cartridge before he loaded his gun.”(p.197) It is always necessary for the soldiers to load their guns rapidly while they are fighting. The weaponry in use today progresses and amends as time goes by, rather then having to be loaded repeatedly. The improved weaponry in use now makes life easier for the sophisticated soldiers.

The communication in which the hard- working villagers lived with long ago, improves as the inventors become more intelligent. Paul Revere has to ride into all of the towns, on his horse, to warn the people that the British were coming.(p.205) Paul revere wastes his time riding his horse many miles instead of using something more effective. The communication now, such as the telephone, makes life easier by quickening the response to the people. The inventors who thought of the technology improved the communication of the 21^st century.

The people, who live in the 21^st century, get through their lives while the resources progress into advanced technology. Since their weapons and communication need to be better, they work harder in order to supply the money for them. The citizen’s weapons and communication are not disliked and end up becoming great resources.
